AltaPointe Health Systems, Inc. oversees a community-based, comprehensive regional system of mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse service provision in Mobile and Washington counties of Alabama. Formerly known as Mobile Mental Health, the Alabama State Legislature established the organization’s board of directors under Alabama Act 310 to implement and provide services in 1957.
AltaPointe collaborates with dozens of state and local agencies to accomplish its main goal, which is to provide the highest possible mental health services that promote wellness and recovery. That goal has not changed in more than 50 years. Today, AltaPointe is Alabama’s largest regional community mental health provider with more than 700 clinical and non-clinical staff members who serve more than 13,000 children, adolescents and adults annually.
In 2007, Mobile Mental Health officially became AltaPointe Health Systems, Inc. “Alta,” meaning “the highest,” and “pointe,” signifying “direction,” better reflect the organization’s clinical, technological and administrative advances and its positive approach to providing services. AltaPointe is more than a community mental health center. It is a comprehensive healthcare system committed to expanding service provision to meet community needs and improve the quality of life for everyone it serves
Today, AltaPointe works to make access easier for its consumers and provide broader services to the community. To inquire about our services, please call our Access to Care Center at (251) 450-2211.
